Plastic consumption check

Beach walks are becoming a staple for me in this chapter of life, and my friend from Philly asked me to send her a video of the ocean every day. I’m pretty sure she wasn’t being…literal. But here we are, deep in the bit. 😉
I’ve been trying to pinpoint why I love our DAILY BEACH texts so much. I love rituals, I love having a reason to talk to my friends because I’m not always the best at keeping in touch, and now I live really far away from them. I love going to find the beach more often than I would because I want to share it with my dear angel friend.
Good morning! 🌊 Here’s an invitation to find your (metaphorical) Daily Beach, and a whole bunch of recs for your (very literal) next beach day.

Unhealthy obsessions (@ the beach)
Extremely portable snack ideas: I saw this functional doctor eating white cheddar and apple, so I started eating cheddar and apple. Sometimes you just need a snack reset, you know? Into the cooler it goes.
Green juice with good ice: Last year, I linked @olivanoceda’s deli container drink recipes, and this 2026 update with cucumber, lime, herbs, melon, coconut water and salt looks even…better? But please ditch the plastic deli container, even if it's recyclable. ⬇️
Being mindful of my plastic cup consumption because recyclable plastic doesn’t always get recycled. From Grist: “Jan Dell, an independent chemical engineer and founder of the nonprofit The Last Beach Cleanup, conducted an analysis for Greenpeace last year and found that only 6 percent of the U.S. population has access to a municipal recycling program that accepts plastic cups.” If you love the beach, and also worry about microplastics, try to cut your consumption of plastic cups and containers (even recyclable ones) at the source. Even if you put recyclable plastic in the proper bin, there’s a very high likelihood that it’s still ending up in the landfill or incinerator.
This packable, PFAS-free beach tent for less than $100: Lifting the mood on plastic talk by sharing that the equivalent of 75 recycled bottles are in each of these tents. The perfect shade for sunny days doesn’t exi….
Cosplaying as a surfer because of Marnie Rays.
Seeking: Better made things to bring to the beach. An organic cotton hat, towel, and cooler bags & packs made without PFAS.
And: I feel compelled to point out that our 2023 towel edit was called “Shell yeah” and I still rep that.
Hydrating Sun Balm, SPF 50, Utu: An all-purpose purse balm is the name of the game for me. Never in my wildest dreams did I consider the power of one with SPF 50. I am bewitched!!
GOTS-certified organic cotton Selene Bath Sheet, Sage & Clare: Sage and Clare (fave is an understatement, I treasure the things I own from this brand) is having a rare 30% off sale. A beach towel this oversize and plush should barely be allowed to exist. Not an affiliate link! Just trying to keep you looped into a good sale.
✨
For other outdoor gear, check out our edit from two weeks ago. That email had Sway’s highest open rate since we moved over to Beehiiv…you love being outside! Pop over for bug spray, beach shoes, and the tiniest portable chair you ever did see.
Bye for now,
Jennifer @ Sway
